We always recommend the purchase of travel insurance. If the Renter wishes to cancel the booking for non-insurable reasons, he or she should advise the Reservations department immediately by telephone, followed by a confirmation letter via e-mail.
Upon receipt of such letter, the operator will (without obligation whatsoever to the Renter) use their best efforts to obtain a replacement rental and, if such replacement is obtained, will then refund to the Renter all money received minus a handling fee (15%). If the reservations agents are unable to re-book the rental, The Point shall retain all payments received.
It is recommended that you obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover yourself and any dependents or travel companions during your stay in Costa Rica. At a minimum, this insurance should cover emergency evacuation expenses, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, cancellation or curtailment of your trip, and damage, theft, or loss of personal luggage, money, and goods.
If you encounter a medical emergency, most doctors and hospitals in Costa Rica will require payment in cash, regardless of whether you have travel health insurance or not. If your health insurance does not cover for medical expenses while you are abroad, it is advisable to consider supplemental insurance.
It may also be beneficial to determine in advance whether your insurance plan will make direct payments to providers or if they will reimburse you later for any overseas health-related expenses.
Our location is in the tropics, close to the equator, and considered a rainforest country with warm temperatures throughout the year. Costa Rica has two welldefined seasons:
- Dry season from December to April
- Green season from May to November.
Rainfall, which is typically warm, occurs mainly in the afternoon or evening, particularly on the Pacific coast.
We experience a brief dry spell in the middle of the year, typically in late July and early August when precipitation significantly decreases for 3-4 weeks. The rainiest months are September and October, particularly in the South Pacific region.
